party like it's 2009

Fri Jan 1, 2010, 12:16 AM
Now we've gotta start saying "Twenty- ___" in front of the year. *is foolishly proud to be part of the class of '09*

It's a little late, but I hope everyone had a happy new year! My parents and I saw Sherlock Holmes (excellent movie by the way), made pizza, and had a Jurassic Park movie marathon. Swell time. :D

I actually don't have much of an art reflection thingamabob this time around. I know I need to work on a lot of different things (like backgrounds, eugh) but at the same time, I'm taking all art classes at school so I will be shifting focus to whatever I learn there for a while. For example, all five of my classes next quarter are art-related so forgive me if I don't update with a lot of art, I'm hoping I won't get TOO burned-out but you never know.

I've got fond memories of 2009...This week alone has been a blast, and I'm being more social than I have ever been for months. XD Sometimes having a life is fun, I must admit.

:star: Highlights :star:

Best Mythology teacher ever (Mr. Bonjour, you rock)
Phoenix Comic-Con, where I met some extremely awesome folks
Getting my driver's license finally
Acquiring a car! I love my little Focus  Kumajiro~
Graduating highschool (with a 4.0 to boot)
Spending two weeks in Washington D.C.
Winning $500 in L. Ron Hubbard's "Illustrators of the Future" contest
Moving into an apartment with three other cool peeps
Started at AiPx a.k.a. my college of choice <3 and majoring in Media Arts/Animation!
Turned 18
Drew nude models and did not freak out...after the first time
WENT TO SABOTEN-CON and had a friggin' blast MEETING MORE EXTREMELY AWESOME FOLKS
Saw The Princess and the Frog
Made headway on my Arthurian Legends collection with all the books I got for Christmas XD

In general, this year saw me becoming more comfortable with myself and my place in the world (corny much?) and gave me much oppurtunity to make others happy with my art, something I always strive to do anyhow.

So in short 2009 was a good year, despite a couple dark spots that I didn't let pull me down (and as a result, I hardly remember them 0_0).

Best wishes in 2010,

Good Tidings We Bring

Thu Dec 24, 2009, 8:28 PM
There are still two and a half hours for me until it's officially, technically Christmas Day, and I just got back from dinner + looking at lights around neighborhoods with my familia :). Just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas or a Happy Holiday if you celebrate something different! Or if you don't celebrate anything then enjoy your Friday! XD I know I do.

Thanks for being awesome, you guys, and there's not a day that goes by where I don't feel blessed to know you all.

these happy days are yours and miiiiine

Wooo! Today was a good day! Not only was it my first day of Christmas vacation, but it had the added novelty of seeing TWO awesome movies!

:star: Avatar
This was a very, very good movie. I know lots of people have been banging on it for having a lame story or whatnot while simultaneously praising the CGI. Yes, the plot was predictable--think Dances With Wolves set in the far future on another planet. But DWW was a good movie and a great story, so I don't see what the problem was. I loved Jake's character; then again I'm a fan of Sam Worthington, too, and also Sigourney Weaver. And the Na'vi were so AWESOME. My kudos goes to the animators on this one, obviously so much was CGI but everything LOOKED real. The blending was very well done.

:star: The Princess and the Frog
Finally got around to seeing this one! OMG I HAVE BEEN WAITING SINCE, LIKE, FOREVER AGO TO SEE THIS MOVIE. I read the book it was based on but applauded the changes Disney made to the setting and characters, because the change was refreshing--and made me look forward to seeing the finished product even more! Plus I have the biggest soft spot/preference for 2D-animation so...there was no way I would think bad of this movie LOL. The music, the pacing, the environments, everything was gorgeous. I look forward to the next 2D Disney movie if it's anything like this one.

I might not submit anything for a few days because I have to get caught up on Christmas gifts (plus actual Christmas shopping) and a couple IRL commissions that came up at the last minute. :\ So, adios!

ask me anything~

Sun Dec 13, 2009, 11:55 AM
A lot of other people are doing this too, and I figure, I should update my FAQ anyway ^^; so go ahead, ask me anything! If it's TOO personal than I won't give 100% of the details, though, but that's really it. It doesn't have to be art-related, either, it can be about what fandoms I like, my philosophies on stuff, etc.

Man, yesterday was totally awesome! I spent pretty much all of it up in Flagstaff, near the Snow Bowl, with *XxeMmUmFeFtItNxX, ~jokeraddict0, ~Sonavaturo, and a couple of other awesome people. There was so much snow, but it wasn't as cold as I thought it was going to be (like being in Williams in January...brrr). Much fun was had! There was an enormous hill that we all used to sled, and I only had a couple of successful goes before I kept wiping out. XD And ~skorpyon9 was INSANE, being out there with just a hoodie and shorts on. He became a celebrity, methinks. The park people kicked us out around 4 pm so we returned to downtown Flag and ate at Strombolli's. Mmm, they had the best Italian bread. And then we all got packed up in the van again (there were like 11 people in all!) and returned to Phoenix. I dozed off on the way back, I think most everyone did at some point. ;D What a day.

This is my last week of the quarter!! I'm so excited. I really enjoyed this quarter (except for Math and sometimes Video/Lighting) but I'm looking forward to Christmas Break--three weeks off, w00t!

...to say a big THANK YOU  to all my friends, offline and online, and my lovely watchers/supporters. I'm a very sentimental biddy but I'm terrible with words when it comes to expressing these sentiments, so I'll just say how thankful I am for all of you--I have enjoyed getting to know a lot of you--and look forward to getting to know you better, and if I don't know you already, why not start now?--and I appreciate your support. Thank you all. :thanks:

*sniff*

Well, I'm back in Mesa for a long weekend to spend with my familia~ Looking forward to eating real(ly good) home-cooked food tomorrow--that is certainly something I haven't had in a while. XD
Hope you all have a pleasant Thanksgiving--or if you don't celebrate it, as the case may be, have a wonderful Thursday!
